In Situ Hybridization

Phylogeny offers completely customized in situ hybridization service from probe design and tissue procurement to expertly interpreted gene expression studies. Phylogeny delivers expertly interpreted gene expression results regardless of the biological system: from embryo to adult; for either plant or animal; in normal or diseased tissue. Our publication-quality data is ready to cut-and-paste into manuscripts, grants, and patents. < back to services

Detailed Services

  • We can perform the study from any starting point: either from a GenBank accession number or from your templates.
  • 35S radiolabeling or DIG labeling the gene template (both the sense and anti-sense).
  • Preparation of tissue slides (embryonic or adult rat and mouse; human normal or diseased; plants and insects) for in situ hybridization. Phylogeny can provide a wide array of tissue products or you can supply your own tissue for analysis.
  • Optimization of hybridization conditions for your gene probe/tissue and hybridization of the gene probe to the various tissues.
  • Hybridization of sense and anti-sense probes to the tissue of interest.
  • Scoring of each tissue for elevated expression.
  • Interpretation of expression by Ph.D. microanatomist or pathologists as needed.

 Final Reports

  • Written report prepared by Ph.D. with decades of in situ experience.
  • Digital images of all tissues analyzed in the study.
  • CD-ROM containing all digital images and written report.
  • Interactive HTML version of the written report containing images available for side-by-side comparison.
  • Original hybridized tissue slides.

 What We Need From You

  • A GenBank accession number or full-length sequence or purified linearlized gene template.
  • Images of the plasmid digest containing the gene template (both the sense and anti-sense).
  • Images of Northerns or other expression assays.
  • The completed Gene Expression Form.
